Clauses or Phrases- The arrangement of words that creates a specific picture in your mind. That picture dictates the effectiveness and arrangement and elements of that sentence (short or long, active or passive etc).
Example: Vast waves. each the size of a small house, were rolling rapidly, close on each others heels.
Rapidly, vast waves rolled in. Each was the size of a house. They were close, and as a wave crossed the beach, it would rise even higher.
